HYDERABAD: A munsif court in Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar
district, issued a non-bailable warrant against Telugu film actor and president
of Yuva Rajyam, Pawan Kalyan, in a defamation case.
The defamation case was filed against the actor nearly two
years back after he allegedly made some comments against Congress leaders.
The petition was filed by Kiran Kumar, an advocate and a
Congress leader from Wanaparthy in 2008.
According to the advocate, Pawan Kalyan termed some Congress
leaders as traitors in connection with a land dispute near Gandhi Bhavan.
Pawan Kalyan’s advocate sought the High Court’s intervention
in striking down the case but the court rejected the petition.
Meanwhile, the munsif court ordered Pawan Kalyan to appear
before the court on Monday. The actor failed to appear following which an NBW
was issued against him.
