The committee has decided to tour south Andhra Pradesh and
Rayalaseema region in the next two to three weeks to examine other suitable
places for the location of the capital city. When asked about Naidu already
hinting that the new capital would be located between Vijayawada and Guntur,
Sivaramakrishnan said, "He (Naidu) said no decision was taken on the
capital and all that he is doing now is working from there for the time
being."
Committee member Aromar Revi said their study has revealed
that 30% of AP is urban and many of the urban areas are connected with both,
road and rail transport. The committee also made it clear to the chief minister
that connectivity would play a key role in locating the new capital. They also
explained to him the skilled workforce available in places like Visakhapatnam,
Guntur, Eluru, Tenali and Rajahmundry and the quantum of workforce needed for a
capital city. The committee will again meet the chief minister in July after
completing its Rayalaseema and south Andhra visits.
